Their Goal

The university had a new building constructed (Boldrewood).  Due to the nature of business it was imperative a high level of security was maintained to deal with the high flow rate of employees and students, collecting data on all entries and preventing unauthorised personnel from entering the building.  However, the solution would not only have to fit into the reception area, additional security was required at the staff entrance and on each floor at every lift lobby.

Gunnebo Solution

SpeedStile speedgates in the reception area and lift lobbies, which not only met security standards but also needed to be integrated with the company's access control system and record the passage of employees using a card reader.  There was emphasis on Equality Act compliance, and with additional stainless steel and glass barrier work provided an aesthetically pleasing solution.  The staff entrance required a higher level of security but must comply not only to the Equality Act but also part of the fire escape strategy.  Gunnebo installed the CompacSas interlocking door with a finish uniformed with the pre-installed curtain walling system.

Their Business Benefits

A fully compliant entrance control system covering all client requirements in various areas of the building, maintaining a high level of security.  Authorised traffic can now gain entry to the building and various areas on each floor of the building without the flow being interrupted.  The university can monitor by audit from the access control system software who is in the building, where and at what time.  Interlocking booths in the staff entrance allow access to authorised personnel into a high security area compliant with relevant DDA regulations and fire exit strategies.
