Whether you need to relocate or re-site a safe due to moving house or business premises there are a number of things you need to take into consideration. By their very nature a large heavy safe is not easy to move. That's the idea after all, isn't it?
Relocation or removal of large heavy safes requires specialist equipment and professionals who are experienced in assessing both the logistics and safety measures required. All our staff are trained to the highest standards in manual handling and the use of equipment such as stair lifters, scoots and roller bars and compliant with health and safety guidelines for a professional an efficient removal with minimal disruption to you and your business.
The most common types of safes that need relocating are underfloor safes, freestanding safes, cash deposit safes, fire proof cabinets or gun safes. Whatever type of safe you have here's a few things to think about …
Empty the contents
Any contents inside the safe could be damaged when moving the safe. If it contains mainly bank notes or paperwork it's okay to leave them inside. However, for heavier items you should consider removing them in order to decrease the weight. If temporarily removing items you should find another secure method of storage.
Protect surrounding areas/furniture
Take care to cover any nearby furniture or clear the area surrounding the safe to avoid any damage and keep precious items of furniture safe.
Provide as much information as possible
Let us know any challenges. For example, stairways, narrow passages, tight corners. An onsite evaluation may be necessary to determine specialist equipment need.
Plan and prepare the space where you want the safe to be installed (if relocating) before our installers turn up to move your safe to its new position. Again it is important to advise up front on any logistical issues.
There is nothing more precious than a person's health and wellbeing. Avoid serious risk and injury and bear in mind that moving a large heavy safe requires proper equipment, specialist knowledge and experience to ensure it is done safely.
