Improving safety, boosting efficiency and reducing costs for Yodel
Yodel began in 2010 as the Home Delivery Network, and soon acquired the B2B and B2C contracts of DHL Express UK, rebranding as Yodel. Since then, the company has recorded exponential growth year on year and now handles over 155 million parcels annually. Yodel has won several national awards for their work, including the ‘Going the Extra Mile’ at the MetaPack Delivery Awards of 2013 and the CCA Excellence Award  in 2014.

Requirement
Yodel’s 55 service centres are currently installed with a combination of Analogue and IP Camera Systems. With the company’s continual growth in mind, a more efficient and comprehensive security monitoring and maintenance solution was required, so the company turned to Gunnebo UK Electronic Security (formerly Clear Image) due to their solid reputation, experience and competency in this area.

Solution
Gunnebo Electronic Security designed and installed a range of IP CCTV systems across the Yodel estate. The IP Camera Systems installed included Mobotix, AXIS and Hik Vision systems integrated into a brand new, state of the art VMS platform called Mirasys. This equipment is the latest and most suitable to keep Yodel’s service centres protected. The Mirasys platform offers a top-quality VMS platform for the end user, with advanced security, health and safety and operations features. Mirasys is an open platform, which allows a wide variety of IP and Analogue cameras to be integrated, making a staggered application possible if required. Gunnebo Electronic Security is working actively alongside Yodel to achieve the company’s ideal of all IP Camera SVCs and HUBs being integrated into the Mirasys VMS platform.

Future
Increased use of IP CCTV has allowed Yodel to reduce manned guarding on operational sites by replacing with video analytics, ANPR and remote monitoring. This has produced significant cost savings whilst increasing site safety and security through effective technological solutions.
The network-based IP CCTV systems have reduced operational costs, increased the flexibility of staff and operations and delivered top-quality image capture, recording and analytics to Yodel.

“Gunnebo Electronic Security have worked closely with Yodel to find where extra value can be gained from the IP CCTV, which could be anything from financial savings and significant theft reductions to improved health and safety practices. Furthermore, we have been monitoring traffic safety across their sites with an aim to make improvements, as well as productivity and resource management.”
